Each year, the Capital Area Region honors the civil rights leader at during the MLK holiday weekend.
We are delighted to announce that the DoC’s President and General Minister

Rev. Teresa Hord Owens

has agreed to be our guest preacher for our annual

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Tribute & Action

Sunday, January 14, 2018, 2:00 p.m.
at United Christian Parish of Reston, Virginia. Her sermon title is “Why We Still Can’t Wait”, exploring the text Amos 5:21-24.

New this year is a panel of young adults who will reflect on the theme: “Inspired By A Dream: Where Do We Go From Here.”

Rev. Nathan Hill, Senior Pastor of University Christian Church, Hyattsville, MD

We will also present the second annual “Bridge Builder Award” to the Rev. Nathan Hill, Senior Pastor of University Christian Church, Hyattsville, MD and Core Trainer for the Pro-Reconciliation/ Anti-Racism Program of the Christian Church (Disciples Of Christ) (pictured left). Oscar Haynes also received this award, posthumously, at the dedication of the Disciples Historical Society display in his honor in early November.
